Automotive Bailout

Assuming that the automotive bailout is going to happen, this is the smartest approach I’ve been able to find.

New Podcast

Hi folks. I wanted to expand some thoughts I offered in the first podcast. Specifically, I was wrong…Obama likely is going to govern from the left. Second, conservatives have nobody to blame but themselves and we need to learn from liberals…yes, liberals…on how to advance conservatism.

My First Podcast

I’ve decided to give podcasting a shot.  I’m still working out some of the audio kinks, but I intend to make this a permanent fixture to Right Way Politics.  You’ll note I’m not polished and, contrary to my opening, I am obviously not LIVE from my basement.  I’ve heard “LIVE from….” so many times that it’s instinctual!

Right Way Politics – First Podcast

Getting Started

I contacted Congressman John Shimkus’ office today to lend my help to him specifically, but to conservatism in general.  Congressman Shimkus had the guts to vote against the $750-billion bailout bill; a move that has my respect.  He stood firm when everyone else was caving and overstating the effect the bill would have on the market.  I can support a guy like that, and I’m happy to help in whatever way I can.  Here’s to hoping I hear from him soon.

Abortion At The Grassroots Level

I’m going to confess that for 14 years I’ve pretty much expected Congressional Republicans to pass legislation that criminalizes abortion. I’ve learned an important lesson in the past several months, though. When you rely on the federal government to do anything, it can be taken away in the blink of an eye. Two years ago we had a Republican Congress and President. Today…nothing. Whatever legislative gains we made (and there weren’t many) will soon be wiped out. It’s time to change our paradigm.

True, lasting reform, will rarely come from the federal level and it’s time for social conservatives to stop expecting anyone to do anything for us. If we want to end abortion, we have to do the hard work. It can be done and we don’t need the government’s help. Here’s my plan:

1. Tithe

2. Pull all of my money from current charities and re-invest only in pro-life efforts

3. Donate significant amounts of time to the pro-life organization of my choice

Friends, if we’re really serious about being pro-life, it’s time we act like it. It doesn’t matter if Republicans or Democrats occupy the White House. We can make significant strides on this issue regardless of the controlling party.

Buck Up, Folks!

We get to rebuild the conservative movement.  If we’ve learned anything, it’s that Americans don’t want a Republican candidate who can “reach across the aisle.”  You don’t pet liberalism, play footsie with it, and say nice things about liberal leaders and then expect people to believe in your lukewarm Presidential sales pitch!  You have to attack liberalism, explain why it’s deficient, and then contrast it with true conservatism.

So, don’t mope!  This was our wake-up call.  Pendulums swing and conservatism will be back.  Pray for your leaders (Obama included), remember the providence of God, and know that a better day is coming soon enough.

Welcome

Hey folks!  I’m glad you’re here and I look forward to posting my thoughts on various political issues.  Agree, or disagree, feel free to respond!
